We are always looking for people who share an interest in what we are doing. Although we rarely have full-time positions available, we offer internships and apprenticeships, collaborate with fellow artists and engage professional services on a contractual, commission-based, speculative or part-time basis as needed. As our studio explores new horizons, so our needs and opportunities expand - so, if you like what we are doing, let us know you're out there and you may find yourself working with us on a project sooner than you think.

Here is a PARTIAL LIST of people we are currently seeking:

Promoting the Art

Online Marketing
Are you up to speed on the latest techniques for promoting things on the Web? Social networking, blogs, Twitter, pay-per-click, YouTube? If you think promoting the art on Jivotica sounds like fun, you should stop reading this now and start writing us an email!

Commission-based Sales
We have a straightforward commission plan with clear and simple guidelines. No quotas to be met, no handling of merchandise and the opportunity to work entirely from home.

Public Relations
Getting ink is critical for a small studio like ours. If you know how to write things that get printed, score interview opportunities for our artists and otherwise get our gallery noticed, we would love to talk to you.

Making the Art

Costume Designers & Seamstresses
We are looking for costume designers and seamstresses to help us create and produce several multi-media statue projects. The official Ded Bob statue currently available through our store is a good example of the sort of thing we are looking for. Interested in designing the pattern but not in producing (or the other way around)? Contact us anyway as we often split these duties between two people.

Sculptors, Casters & Painters, Oh My!
We generally prefer collaborative projects that work on a speculative, joint-venture model but we also contract artistic services outright if the conditions warrant (especially for small parts of a piece such as lathe work for a turned wood base etc.).

Electronics & Animatronics
Do you know your way around circuit boards, servos and wiring for small electronic components? We're working on several ideas that will incorporate sound, light and movement on things like statues and desktop art (think along the lines of motion-sensing Halloween decorations or talking dolls.) If this excites you, we need to talk.

Internships and Apprenticeships

Internships
We are seeking interns in the following areas:

  • Sales & Marketing (learn by doing while earning commissions!)
  • Web Design
  • Graphic Design

Apprenticeships

  • Sculpting
  • Casting (we provide all training)
  • Painting/finishing (must have experience with airbrush)

Although our intern programs are generally unpaid, they can easily lead to a staff position later, can often yield college credit, build your portfolio and looks great on a resume.

Creative Services

Graphic Designers
We are looking for a handful of freelance designers who can help out with everything from Web graphics. logo and package design to executing a large number of designs for our Zazzle and Cafe Press stores. Most work is done on spec but we offer a generous profit-sharing plan as designs are sold.

Models (any gender/age)
We have a sporatic need for models of various types. Assignments range from posing for a sculpture we are producing to modeling for a 2-D piece of art (posters and the like). Interested in modeling for us? Email photos or simply let us know where your portfolio can be found (Model Mania number, etc.) Our work typically falls in the fantasy, sci-fi, historical, horror and erotica genres; some projects entail nudity (though most do not). If you are NOT interested in being considered for any of these specific areas, be sure to let us know so we don't contact you with assignments that are not of interest.

Photographers (model/location)
We use models for many projects, so if you are in SE Michigan and are good with models, please send us your information/URL and we'll be in touch.

Photographers (product)
Know how to light small to mid-size products for maximum dramatic effect? Can you capture the essence of a scifi, fantasy or horror piece of art? While we generally do our own product photography, if you are in the SE Michigan area, send us your info/samples and we will contact you when an assignment comes up.

Photo Retouchers
We have a few photo retouchers at Jivotica but occasionally require services outside our own staff, so direct us to your portfolio and we'll be in touch.
